What can one say when so much has already been said through tributes and social media.
Robert, my closest and best friend for over 55 years. I can remember the first time we become mates.. We were both interested in what was going on at Johnson reserve, so we ventured there after school to check it out. I can remember that we spent so much time there that Wayne McAlinden and Geoff Govan had to drive us home to explain to our parents where we had been. That was the beginning of a true friendship. Our family, mates and friends know what we have been through as at nearly every get together something had come up about what Bobby and Benny had been up to. Memories are far too many, so the few that have stuck are: Balloon football at 9 Pitt St, Sunday morning at 38 Pitt St with dad not starting to cook breakfast until he knew if that bludger from down the road was coming. Fred’s delivery truck, Bishop St, Customs House Hotel these were the start of a true and long lasting relationship.
My deepest sympathies to Tracy, and for her allowing me to be a part of your family.
You were a one-off mate and surely will be missed by all.
