Dear Shannon, Margaret and Family. My sincere condolences on the loss of Greg. Such a lovely man (even though he was a Collingwood supporter) May he rest in peace and watch over you from above.

Michael Prowse Detective Senior Sergeant (Retired) on 26 June, 2023 at 9:50pm

Gregory Heafield.
It was very much everyone’s pleasure to have both known, and worked alongside you at Flemington CIB in the early 90’s.
You had a boyish and enthusiastic approach to your duties, getting difficult work done. Taking responsibility was second nature to you. You were a pivotal person amongst a group of detectives. Your ego was rarely, if ever offended, revealing a man comfortable in his own skin. That broad, ready smile shone brightly. Your true love of course was Margaret and the kids, Dionne, Travis and Shannon. God bless you Greg. We are all the better for having had you in our lives, and the wider community was grateful for your dedication and service. Gone way too early.

M Prowse.

Sad to hear of the passing of a valued work colleague, whom I had the pleasure of working with at Brunswick. RIP Greg and condolences to the Heafield family.

Andrew Balsillie Det Sgt 19072 on 23 June, 2023 at 12:24pm

Gregory, you have left everyone far too early. You never changed, the gentlest of personalities, as honest as the day is long and a man who left a positive feel with everyone including the work clientele. Flemington C.I.B in the early to mid 90’s was certainly a great team to be amongst and a period I look back very fondly upon and in no small part that is attributable to you. To Marg and your whole family, deepest sympathies for your loss. Best wishes from Andrew and Margaret Balsillie

Dear Margaret, Dionne, Travis & Shannon
I'm so sorry to hear that Greg is no longer with us and my heart goes out to you all during this incredibly difficult time. My childhood memories of Mr. Heafield will be treasured. He was the adult who would launch us kids into a backward summersault in the pool, he'd let us play with his handcuffs at birthday parties, he'd muck around with us as we played songs on the pianola and always made sure everyone got some crispy bits from Friday nights fish and chips. He was so much fun and so loved by everyone in the neighbourhood but mostly by his family. I will miss him and send you all my love and sympathy.
