Dear Valerie,
It’s hard to believe we won’t see your happy smiling face and experience your bubbly personality again. You always lit up the room, making everyone feel welcome and important. I’m so sad personally, it’s so hard to believe, but also sad professionally. You had just found your work niche, UniGlobal was your baby and it was developing into a strong and viable business. Helping people like you, who were coming to study in Australia. They needed honesty and good guidance, you gave them that were never too busy to help them. You’ll leave a massive hole and were taken far too young with so much life left to live. Rest easy Val.

Dearest Val,

My heart is aching, and I still can't come to terms with the fact that you are no longer with us. How I will miss your beautiful smile, your friendliness, and your positive energy. You had a remarkable ability to help and offer support to others, whether it was for something big or small. I still remember the time when you generously offered me half of your bed when I was scared to be on my own at the hotel.

Your dedication to your students was remarkable. You poured your heart and soul into guiding them toward a brighter future.

Dearest Val, although you may no longer be with us in a physical sense, your spirit remains ever-present among us. Rest in peace my dear friend, knowing that you made a significant impact on this world and left it a better place.

With love,
Clara

I am still shocked and devastated about Val's tragic passing. Val has been a much-cherished member of our family for many years and had become like a second sister to me. The months I spent living with her in Melbourne were some of the most fun I've had. I will always miss her beautiful smile and spirit and the hours we spent talking and laughing. If there is a Heaven then I know Val is in it. She will always be missed.

Dearest cousin Su Mei, my heart broke when I heard of your sudden passing. Tears flowed when I recalled the times I stayed overnight at your home when i was in primary sch, when we caught up over dinner in Melbourne, when we caught up over dinner drinks n overnight stay in Sgp when u came home. All too short n not enough to express how much I miss you. 😰😭 Now that you r in our heavenly Father's hands, there is no more pain n sorrow. May you find rest n peace for your soul, and we'll catch up again in heaven. We love you n Susan deeply.

Dear Shumei, our shared memories of secondary school days came flooding into my mind, how we shared our tears & laughters, our love for songs by Tommy Page & how we spent hours chatting non-stop.
I pray to God in Heaven that you are now with Him in eternity and no longer in pain. Till we meet in Heaven.

To my special friend Sumei (Val), I still can’t believe that you have left us all so soon. I remembered writing to you that we should catch up soon now that travelling has resumed. Never did I know that will be the last I will hear from you.
So many fond memories of the time that we had spent together. I remembered when we were in our early 20s, you and I went for our first trip together to Melbourne and Gold coast. It was so much fun exploring all the new places and having to navigate around using physical maps. We were also accidentally left behind by the tour group at Great Ocean Road as we were “busy” taking photos. We always had a great laugh when we reminisce that trip and incident.
Your kind spirit, warm laugh and beautiful soul will always be in my heart. You will be deeply missed, my dearest friend.

Wendy Chng Petit on 6 May, 2023 at 1:56pm

My Dearest Sumei,
You would always have a special place in my heart. A wonderful sweet and caring best friend who has a heart of gold. Only a person who is a giver would go into an education service to help future pillars of the world to get into higher education in Australia. You are a kind hearted person who is very generous, and who would think of others before thinking of oneself. You see a person irregardless of social background. I am truly shocked and saddened to hear of your passing, and I regret not coming to see you often in Australia, thinking that there would always be another time. Time does not wait for you, but time would certainly leave a trace of your legacy of helping students in higher education. May God help you to go to your desired destination and give you a very good life in heaven. I love you Sumei.

It is with great sadness and shock that we learn of Val’s passing while we were overseas. Val spent her early career in the education industry with us (AMI Education) and I can still remember meeting her the first time. A purposeful, driven and warm person, Val soon found her place in the institute playing big sister to many young international students coming to study with us. The fact that I heard the sad news from one of her friends who studied with us many years ago is a testament to the friendship she has built. This she did while caring for many who were strangers studying in Australia amidst loneliness and hardship. Val, we thank you for your genuineness of heart and your contribution to the greater body of international students. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go to your loved ones and family. We are privileged to have been your friends.

Fond memories of Val when she joined with our family for my 60th Birthday at the Titanic Thestre Restaurant in Williamstown, Melbourne, and at other family celebrations.
We also joined Val for dinner at her hotel when she was on a work trip to Bangkok in Thailand. My husband and I send our love to Val's Family. A lovely soul taken too soon.
