Michael "Rata" Ratajszczak
You were never vague or indecisive; quiet at times, direct, blunt, and even prickly at others.... The army shaped your attitudes, and you taught usthe long game!! Over the years at EMOS/SMNG (Telstra) we came to enjoy a mutual respect, especially when we discovered your birthday was 25th December!! Under that gruff exterior, you were a kind, considerate man, quietly proud of all your extended family, yet frustrated by the lack-lustre efforts of your footy team (Monday morning muttering "go, gutsy gliders!!") and I was happy to learn how to spell your surname!
Thanks for teaching me the army method for ironing a shirt!!
Rest in peace.

Uncle Mick, the relationship we shared was a distant one. This never stopped us from our regular phone chats. From a very young age you brought me laughter and happiness from playing football in the streets with Uncle Tom and fellow cousins to cricket in the backyards. Our phone conversations were at times interesting, mostly sharing what we got up to in the week, what’s cooking for dinner and sharing roast recipes. I looked forward to the weekends and long drives as this is when we talked most. I’m already missing the conversations of what’s been happening. You will never be forgotten now resting in gods country along with other dearly missed family members. Take care up there mate. Love you as always.

You'll always be remembered as one of the favourite uncles xxx
For me, I will always remember the endearing 'arguments' between you, Oma and Opa, which were always in German, and for some reason, heart-warming. As one of the Queenslanders, I'll always remember how you came to all of our special events when you could and made them all that more special, you've always been so generous. I'll remember the warm smell of coffee and the inky pages of a newspaper in the morning, as you caught up on news and perused possible bets for the day. And although we didn't get to spend as much time together as I wouldve liked, whenever we did, it was always fun, natural and memorable. We willl miss you but remember you with beautiful, fond memories xxx

We were great friends, you and Indi, me and Ivan. I miss you on our walks talking about racing and how we very rarely won on the punt. You both left us far too soon.

You were a constant fixture on my trips back home to Melton, always catching up for coffee at Coffee Club. Now gone. Riley remembers you counting all his disposals in a Grand Final and is guardian of your golf clubs, they are getting a good workout. Always remembering birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Now gone. Your love for Miss Jones. Now gone. Fights with Opa about the TV remote and Sunday lunches. Now gone. You lived a full life and took cancer on, you didn't deserve the ending life dealt. We will all miss your presence at family gatherings and your birthday wishes on Facebook. Our love goes with you forever.
