I had the pleasure of meeting Jonny in 2010 in Liverpool. I thought he was gorgeous & he was both inside and out. We lost touch over the years but I always thought of him especially when I heard a Dublin accent. He was someone you don’t forget. Witty, charismatic, funny and adorable. I was watching a documentary about Dublin tonight, thought of Jonny instantly and then found out this tragic news. I’ve cried all night long. You’ll be so missed by all who had the opportunity to know you. God bless you JM, you’ll have heaven in stitches of laughter I bet. My thoughts are with Jonny’s family & friends at this incredibly difficult time x

To have met the love of her life and then have him taken away so soon is heartbreaking. Kelly I hope you will get strength from the wonderful memories and time together. Jonny, we sadly never met but I knew Kelly had met someone special when I hadn't heard from her for a few weeks back at the end of last year!
From speaking to her, I could tell you made her so happy and you loved her in the kindest and most gentle way. A kind of love she is so deserving of. It sounded like you experienced so much joy among such an intense period of uncertainty and unknowns. I was so heartened to hear that Kelly's Dad, Jim described you as having similar traits to Kelly. You were clearly a beautiful man and this is a colossal loss for your loved ones and the world. Sending your friends, family and Kelly so much love. I hope you're finally out of pain and discomfort. You live on in the lives and hearts of everyone you so clearly touched. Rest in Peace, Jonny xx

Whilst it was a long time since Jonny and I saw eachother after Uni, I'm devastated to hear of his passing. Some people leave you with such fond memories and Jonny was one of those people. He was funny (loved to take the micky), kind, caring and lived life to the fullest. Life is cruel but you made such an impact during your time here on everyone that you met. Rest in peace up there my friend, Jonny 'pint of carling' Martin. Sending heartfelt condolences to Jonny's family and friends xxx

David and Siobhan Fitzgerald on 16 May, 2023 at 8:31am

To Lynne & Family, we are so terribly sad for your loss and of course how sorry we are for Jonny. The loss of a sibling so young is a tragedy. As a family you will of course support each other and be strong for one another and all your friends and loved ones will always be there to support you any way they can. We wish you all our love and support. Jonny in the brief moments I met him was so charismatic. There will be so many stories to share with each other for years to come so his memory will always live on. Even in the brief moments I met him I have such long lasting memories that bring a smile, he will do that for you all for the rest of your lives as a family.

I will be forever grateful for the time I spent in your company. Football and nights out were always better craic with you around. You were brilliant company and a great mate to have. Will always regret not seeing more of you over the last few years as everyone moved in different directions. Sleep well my friend. You'll light it up up there x

Dear Jonny, I haven't had the words and am struggling now. I've known you since you were 13, longer than I haven't. You have always been there , a constant member of the family. I've probably driven you mad at times but you are like my little brother and my heart is completely broken. Life will never be the same and I don't know how we'll get by. The kids, Erin and Finn adored you, their cool Uncle Jonny, international man of mystery. Liverpool will always have a place for you as we always did. We will carry you with us but with broken hearts forever and loving you always, I can't believe you are gone.
Missing you always and beyond words, your
Liverpool family; sister in law, Ellen, loving niece and nephew, Erin & Finn xxx

I have been so lucky to have known Uncle Jonny for the last 16 years and have built so many fond memories with him. He was so inspirational for taking life and making it yours and doing what you wished. I will miss you dearly Jonny and my thoughts and prayers go out to Grandad, Dad, Gary and Lynne in this hard time. Rest in Peace Jonathan.

Louise, Andy,Claire and Evan Xxx on 15 May, 2023 at 4:42pm

I cannot believe I am writing this here, I knew how much you were loved by everyone but reading all the messages on this platform, Facebook and Instagram its evident you were lived and respected so much more. You touched so many lives with your fun living happy outlook on life. Your mum and dad were so proud of you and all you achieved. Aunty Chrissy would have adored kelly as I know Terry Lynne and the boys did. I'm just so sad and angry at the injustice of it all, you lived your life as you wanted, fun packed and free. You will forever be in our hearts and we as a family will never get over this. Sleep well darling, until we meet again xxx

Jessie Ivancic on 15 May, 2023 at 1:08pm

I only had the pleasure of knowing Jonny for less than a year, having met him on a trip to Queensland where our friendship groups formed a connection, but his loss is devastating. Jonny was fun, far more sensible than his mates (😂), considerate, a great conversationalist, funny, kind, everything you could ask for in a friend. I knew immediately why his mates treasured him so much. I’m grateful for the drinks we shared, my memory of the sunset the day we all partied on the boat, and to have had the chance in my lifetime to meet him. Cheers to you, Jonny!

Babs Graham on 15 May, 2023 at 7:04am

My sincerest condolences to Jonnys family! Thinking of you all at this tragic time. Jonny was loved by SO many, all around the world. He had the most amazing energy and sense of humour. Always had myself and Stephen in stitches, yet happy to have the deep conversations and would do anything for a friend. Still can’t believe he’s gone! RIP Jonny ❤️

Denise, David, Aisling and Eoin Xx on 15 May, 2023 at 4:29am

Words will never be enough to express how heartbroken we all are. Jonny was larger than life, when you were with him you never knew what antics he would get up to. Blackpool and the ice cream and fire extinguisher are just one of the funniest memories. I cannot believe you have left this world but I know you will be looking down on us all. Uncle Terry, Brian, Gary and Lynne know we are here for you and cannot wait to give you a huge hug when you come home. We will be with you online on Tuesday 💔💔

Aisling Meehan and Family on 15 May, 2023 at 2:54am

Lynne and family
I am so sorry for your loss. Its hard to find the words to help give comfort. He was taken all too soon and no doubt will leave a big void in your family and in your lives. We are all thinking and praying for you and here to support you in the coming weeks and months as we reminisce on the wonderful life he had. He is reunited now with his lovely mum Chrissie and no doubt they are smiling down on you and will give you the strength to get through what will be a very emotional time for you all. Only wish we were there to support you in person.
Sending all our love from Ireland and will be thinking and praying for you all over the coming days xxx

Not something I ever thought I’d be writing and I don’t even know where to start. Since the day we met 12+ years ago, you were my person. A friend, more than a friend and the best man I’ve ever met. Words fail me at the fact your gone but I will never ever forget you. So many funny memories of our random antics, I feel like I could write a book on them! You kept me going through some dark times (and multiple lockdowns!). Love you forever and you’ll always be in my heart. Be at peace with your mum now, All my love to Terry, Lynne, Gary and Brian as always, more so in this hard time xxx

Extremely sad to hear the news about Jonny. He was a close friend in school (Institute of Ed) and beyond and I have wonderful memories of Jonny. He alway pushed the boundaries for a laugh and you never knew what mischief he’d get up to which always kept things interesting. I went on one of our first lads trips to Prague and Amsterdam with him and many outings in our 20’s. The stories and memories of those trips I still tell today 20 years later and I will continue to tell. He was a genuinely nice bloke. He will be sadly missed and was taken way too young. His memories will live on forever and I wish his family and close friends my deepest condolences. RIP Jonny

Tara & Will Carroll on 13 May, 2023 at 6:18am

Jonny will remain forever in our hearts and memories. He was so kind to an visiting cousin, always gave up his bed for me, and I would always leave my remaining punts or euros under his pillow. He made us all laugh from the day he was born from the infamous head butting of Nannie Curley to his Houdini antics escaping his cot in Pontins. Through to his amazing wit and humour when he grew to the wonderful young man he became. He was so loved and will always be loved by all that knew him. My love and heartfelt condolences go out to the Martins, we love you so very much. If there is anything that we can do please do not hesitate to ask, you will have the strength of the love you have for each other and the love of all your family, friends and all of Jonny's friends to help you at this time. I know life will never be quite the same but take comfort in the immense love we all feel for you, if you can. Utter devastated. RIP Jonny
