My heartfelt condolences to Rob’s family.

Rob was the State Manager at Aon when I started working as a broker in 2003.

He was always supportive of my efforts to better myself and generous with his time in imparting his vast knowledge and experience with me.

I have fond memories of his direct approach, sharp mind, and desire for excellence.

RIP Dipper 🙏🏼

We say farewell to a brother today. Lots of wonderful memories and laughs that will always remain. Travelling to skevs, playing 500, trying to keep up on the bike.
I will miss your wit - a very clever comment that made you laugh.
Your thoughtfulness. Watching you power up those hills but always came back to make your friends were going ok.
Your friendship - always there.
Rest peacefully Rob (Dipas)

Dearest France Adrian & Caitlin
Robert will continue to shine in our hearts forever. His devotion to you still left room to bless our lives with his strength and warmth. From school to university, through his purposeful career and fatherhood, and as a steadfast loving partner to France, Rob had time to take me under his wings whether on our mountain rides or in times of need, so that I was never left behind. And so Rob you will never be left behind because our thoughts preserve the memories. Nostro carissimo amico per sempre.

You’ll always be a great mate who was a fighter. It was an heroic battle up a long climb but reluctantly you had to step off the bike. All strength to you Rob. 💐 🚴

Dear France, Adrian and Caitlin we are all thinking of you during this time of sorrow with the passing of Robert. His presence cutting the turkey during Christmas lunch will be sadly missed by the whole family. I remember Robert playing cricket with me in the front yard when younger using his Datsun as the wicket and him taking me for driving practise in the old Valiant station wagon. We are feeling the loss of a kind brother-in-law and Uncle. Stephan, Ros, Lachlan and Mikayla

So sad to learn this news and such a coincidence that I was only thinking of Robert recently, after many years. Rob was a respected colleague of mine at Minet 25 years ago. I admired his flamboyant (fun) personality and his skill in getting deals done. He was the go-to authority on the best eats around and I can still hear him telling me how Stazio was his favourite. My deepest sympathies to his family over their sad loss. X

Steve Pickett on 31 October, 2023 at 12:01pm

Rob you were my boss for many years at Aon and I learned a tremendous amount from you. I treasured your wicked sense of humour and the mischief you used to create. Always fun you looked for the humour while ensuring the job got done and the client was happy. You loved your family, they were always your priority. I will miss you mate. Deepest sympathy to Fran, Adrian and Caitlin.

Linda Lippens on 31 October, 2023 at 4:24am

Robert you will always be in our hearts, when we see a peloton of cyclists, the Ferrari team at a Grand Prix.
Always a gentle man, you will be missed but your values and strengths will live on in the lives of those you touched.

Zio's relational skills with people and emphasis on family was phenomenal. An engaging and infectious personality, who would naturally draw attention to him. Never had taken this for granted, as it was always special being in his presence, where he deeply cared for the wellbeing of people. His remarkable legacy will be forever eternal, given his impact from all walks of life. We must collectively carry his compassion and ability to build rapport forward throughout our lives. A truly great person, Zio made the world a much better place and deeply inspired many. Thank you for being the best uncle! Rest in peace, Zio!

I got to know Robert through France whom I met at our Primary School workplace!! Robert and France happened to be in SA at the same time as I was taking care of my elderly parents!! We decided to meet up and have dinner at the Grange Hotel with my elderly mother! Robert was so kind to us, caring towards Mums fragility, wouldn’t let us pay for our meal and was great company! A true gentleman!! So very saddened for dear friend France, Adrian and Caitlin… heartfelt sympathies are with you as you now move forward without your much loved husband and father!! Forever Robert will live on in your hearts and beautiful memories!! Rest in peace Robert! ❤️🕊️🕊️

When I first moved to Melbourne (1980s) I didn't drink coffee nor did I like Italian food. As my boss at that time Robert wasted no time correcting my behaviour. I now spend more time each day thinking of those two pleasures than I care to admit. Thankyou Roberto, for saving me. Vale RDP.

Christian Garling on 27 October, 2023 at 3:00pm

Robert and I worked in the same industry for many years. He was a lovely guy, firendly and knowledgable. He warmth and funny stories are already missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I miss my brother Robert so dearly. Robert was a very caring compassionate person concerned more about others for their health and happiness. I miss our chats his smile humour and meetups especially when Robert would ride his bike from home along theYarra to visit us and have a coffee.
A great brother, uncle to Jonathan & Daniel and brother in law to Anthony . Robert was a kind, generous and a very bright person who would help us endlessly including mum & dad.
A devoted family man. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts & prayers to France, Adrian, Caitlin
Robert is a most treasured and precious adored son to Delfina and Umberto (decd)who is dearly loved and missed by all of us.
Rest in peace Robert your star shines brightly in the sky and in heaven amongst the Angels and loved ones.

Julian Obers on 27 October, 2023 at 11:40am

Here's to a brave; strong; funny; hot headed but super loving man.

One that taught me there was a real world outside of Canberra...even another sport than rugby league..good heavens!

One that taught me the intricacies and delicacies of italian culture.

One that taught me that nothing is funnier then a sleeping dad on a chair and changing the channel or simpsons quotes!

Finally, a man that inspired me that you can do anything in life. Just because your last name isn't Smith...you can be the business man who wears suits... you can drive the nice car...you can tell cancer get stuffed I'm cycling the giro d'Italia course.

So from the Obers family near and far...Vale to you Robert. We will miss you and send our love and strength to France; Adrian and Caitlin.
