To Betth Alex and Cath. It was nice to be part of Jim's funeral service and to listen to the family speak about his life and what he meant to you all. We remember, when children, how excited we were when our West and Fitzgerald cousins would come from New South Wales to visit us in Bowen in North Queensland for holidays. These holidays of course were centered around our Granny ( Maggie Fitzgerald). Jim was a little older than us and we remember him as a practical but academic young man. Jim worked hard to educate himself and became a very clever and well respected Metallurgist and a good family man. His parents were very proud of him. He lived a very successful life.
