Yes Gary, your mother would have been proud of you as I am.
Love, Aunty Pam and family
I have been struggling to find the right words to convey how much Garry meant to me and how heartbroken Mat and I are for his family and all who knew him. I feel so incredibly fortunate and grateful to have been a part of Garry’s family life for 12 years and privileged to witness Garry in his roles as husband and father. He was the best example of unconditional love, fun and generosity. I have so many happy memories of times spent with the Dumbrell family that I will cherish forever. I have Garry and Lisa to thank for my husband and my own family. Garry started out as my boss but soon became my friend and a father figure to me. Thank you, Garry, for trusting me to care for your children, for the many adventures and experiences I shared with your family, for all of the advice you gave Mat and I during our many chats, your check in text messages to both of us, and most of all, for welcoming Mat and I into your family life. All our love to Lisa, Emily, Clare, Ben, Lucas, Paul, Rosie and all of the family.
Love always, Lozza and Matty.
What a beautiful service, well done to all of those involved.
My deepest condolences to Lisa, Paul, Lucas, Em, Clare & Ben, you were his world!
Keith, Gail and families my thoughts are with you all and I am so sorry for you loss.
I would not have the amazing career in the motor industry without the opportunities that Garry gave me. He changed my life, together with thousands of others. Many aftermarket consultants lives would not be what they are today (and yesterday) without him. The amount of phone calls I have received over the past week has been amazing and the love conveyed not surprising. He was a mentor to so many of us.
I will never forget the many (boozy) long lunches and many wonderful experiences that came with working for GD.
May you RIP great man and thank you for everything (big and small) that you did for me. The world is a poorer place without you.
You will be missed so much x

My sincere condolences to the Dumbrell family. Garry's passing is a loss to us all, personally will be remembered for his trust, time, respect and mentor-ship towards me. My mother, Irene McLeod worked with Garry for many years and had a wonderful friendship. My brother, Malcolm worked for Garry for a short period prior to his death and our family will always remember Garry with affection.
As the founding employee of Autobarn Garry will be long remembered by me as man of vision, dedication and passion. We would long share thoughts of business strategy and setting direction for the group. But more than that we shared many great times together away from work where his generosity of spirit and kindness came to the fore. Passion and consideration was a large part of his persona whether is was for his staff, motor racing or family. With sincere appreciation for the good times we spent together. Vale. Garry.
To Paul, Rosie, Lisa and the entire Dumbrell family,
We offer our most sincere and deepest condolences for your loss, especially at this time. We also tip our hat to the full and dedicated life that Garry lived and know that his legacy will be carried forward for many generations to come. Few people have such an outsized impact on so many people. His courage and resilience to overcome cancer was a personal inspiration to my father during his battle and Garry's offer to connect was a true sign of his generosity, even for someone he did not know.
Sincere condolences to Lisa and the whole Dumbrell family. Garry and I had dealings for over 30 years and we got to know each other very well over that time. He had an amazing life with many ups and downs, and he faced the challenges with a great deal of courage and humility. I will miss our discussions. Rest in peace, Garry. Best wishes, Jim

To the Dumbrell family,
Thoughts especially on this day and the days ahead as you all adjust to life without GD. To acknowledge my close friend PD - I know how much of a mentor/stalwart your Dad was to you and we are all here for you whenever you need a shoulder to lean on or a moment to reflect with friends. GD has left an amazing legacy and I know that he will be active in your memories, thoughts and conversations each day. Much love guys.
Very sad to hear about Garry. My deepest condolence and support to the whole Dumbrell family. I have been blessed to work under Garry's leadership, learnt a lots of lessons in those years including him calling me in his office when I was caught speeding by Rob. One of the profound statement I got from him last was " I thought you are much better than this" which made me introspect deeply and change the trajectory of my career throwing the baggage of mediocrity and risk aversion. You were not easy to work for Garry, but you were great fun at times and most generous boss. Still remember the hugs when you were happy. I am sure people and the stewards in Heaven would definitely notice your presence. Alvida !
My deepest sympathy to all the Dumbrell family, so many memories from working at McEwans Saturday mornings, to card nights with you, Gail and your mates to that wonderful party you put on for Gail this year. Such a shock. Love to you all, especially Gail. Xx
